The family left the country as the political climate change became dangerous, landing in Hickstead where his father’s sister had located before Oliver was born. He doesn’t remember his life in Hungary all that much, but Oliver grew up knowing where he came from and his culture – as his family made sure he knew it—prompting him to grow up in a dual-language home. Growing up, Oliver found making friends difficult – but he found a lifelong friend in the neighbors behind him. Janie and Oliver would play talk to each other through the fence – finally meeting in person when his parents caught onto what he was doing. Despite his family’s lack of extraordinary talents, Oliver became a mix of athlete and music nerd. He found his love for competitive diving and swimming after some swimming classes at the local pool. He told his parents he wanted to go fast and jump off high things. Oliver’s parents not entirely understanding what he meant at the time, just smiled and nodded – until a year later. Through a local community program, Oliver was enrolled in a small but mighty team of swimmers and divers. His love for classical music came from cross-training. Coaches had their students take ballet in the off-season to help with flexibility – and once again Oliver asked when he could play with strings on a box. Learning their lesson from the previous event, Oliver’s parents chatted with his music teacher at school as soon as they could. The young boy started terribly on the violin, his brain not processing the multitasking of reading music and moving his arm simultaneously. But like his swimming and diving, Oliver flourished in Violin – making him an interesting target for music and athletic Universities. He's now sixteen – navigating his life with Janie and Molly, whom he met through Janie. Oliver likes to rattle their cages, now and then – but loves his two friends dearly.
